I've been making lots of organic lavender eye pillows lately. The lavender is very soothing on the eyes. You can put the eye pillow in the microwave to warm it up or freezer to cool it down before placing it on your eyes. You can buy them in my Etsy shop.
Doesn't that look relaxing? Lavender is an good antidote for headaches and is known for relieving stress. I grow and harvest the lavender myself. It is hung up to dry for about a month. The pillows are sewn out of silky soft fabric and then stuffed with the dried lavender.

Weaving the Ribbon
Here is one of the lavender wands I made today in process. The stems are folded down over the lavender heads. They are arranged in twos and spaced evenly before the weaving starts. Every set of 2 stems is constantly being realigned in order to maintain consistent spacing during the weaving process. Here's the link to one on discoverybay.etsy.com
Wand Intensive
The lavender is starting to flower. Now is the time to make lavender wands. Only about three weeks a year. I'll be making one a day if time allows. Maybe I'll be able to make 24 during the three week season. Hope so. Twice as many as I have ever done before. Is my goal too big?

Fields of Lavender
The variety of lavender in the foreground is in full bloom, while the variety just to the right in the next row has barely begun to bud. This photo was taken at Lost Mountain Lavender Farm which is known locally for growing a great many different varieties of lavender.
A whole field full of lavender is a beautiful sight to behold. This photo was taken at Graysmarsh Farm

Lavender Festival Starts Tomorrow
One of the biggest events here on the North Olympic Peninsula is the annual Lavender Festival in Sequim. It starts tomorrow and continues through Sunday. Last year about 30,000 people came to enjoy the lavender in full bloom.
This summer has been so cool and damp, that the lavender is not yet in full bloom. :(
You can see the little buds are still closed up tight. I'll keep you posted on the festival.
